Day walks are held on the first Wednesday of every month starting at 10:30. They are generally about 6 miles and include either a stop en route for a snack at a pub or a picnic, both of which make for a very pleasant social get-together.
The pace is steady without being too slow. We are a friendly group and welcome anyone wanting to get about in our beautiful local countryside. Join us as a guest in the first instance to see how you like the concept of the walks – just contact either of the Group Co-ordinators via the link above. Details of the walks will be emailed to regular walkers and will also be posted on this page of the website about a fortnight in advance.

4th February 2026 -Gill Hegarty
The February walk will take place on Wednesday 4th at 10:30am starting from Peppard Church (RG9 5JN), going through Crowsley Park and returning via the Herb Farm in Sonning Common for lunch. It’s about 5.5 miles with a few hills but nothing too arduous!
4th March 2026 - Julia Whitelaw
Meet and park at The Herb Farm Sonning Common RG4 9NJ. A circular walk of 5 miles; no stiles; some uphill/downhill 250 feet. Lunch stop (The Herb Farm café) at the end of the walk. Route takes in Bird Wood, heads uphill towards Frieze Farm, past the entrance to Crowsley Grange and across to Crowsley Park and down towards Kingshill Wood. Then SE in the direction of Bishoplands Farm before turning right and downhill to Morgan’s Wood. The final part retraces the path to The Herb Farm.
1st April 2026 - Sue Hatcher & Anne Deacon
Meet and park at Checkendon Recreation Ground, Parkside, Checkendon RG8 0ST (SU 665832) for a 5.0 mile walk through woods and along country lanes to The Red Lion Pub at Woodcote for a lunch pit stop. The after lunch part of the walk is 2.5 miles through the grounds of The Oratory school on the return to Checkendon.
