Join this very friendly group for delightful short walks in or around Henley. Light exercise, fresh air, lovely views and interesting conversations! No need to book but just turn up on time for 10 o'clock start on 3rd Wednesdays of each month; weather permitting. Walks are usually a few miles, not more than a couple of hours and fairly flat. Some of us usually go for coffee afterwards. Lifts are usually available for out of town venues.
For July's walk David M with his dog Lola led us around Warren Row. The very pleasant route with some inclines (views of Windsor Castle in distance) took us around fields and beautiful woods. Most of us went to a nearby cafe afterwards. .
19 August Penny S will lead us on outskirts of Henley. Park/ meet at top of Greys Road. After sharp right bend (coming out of town), past Gillotts Lane turning, and a couple of hundred yards, there are several parking bays on left..[If full, park in 2nd turning to Elizabeth Road, which is on the right.]. There is also a bus which goes from Town Hall to Elizabeth Road.
This is a circular walk, past Highlands estate, down to Harpsden Bottom and back up. Just short of 3 miles with some uneven ground and a slope on return. 1 hour plus, depending on pace.
Penny has kindly offered to provide refreshments (5 minutes walk) - please email me via website soonest, if you are staying, so she has an idea of numbers. Roger
16 September Sheelagh H will lead us in Binfield area -details to be advised.
21 October Verena will lead us in Sonning Common area -details to be advised.
18 November Leon S will lead us -details to be advised
Updates will be posted on this website; as will any cancellations (only if weather really bad), which we will try to notify by latest 9:00am on the day of the walk.
All walkers are invited to register their names at the walk and to provide their email addresses and emergency phone numbers (not the walkers'), unless already given to the organiser.
Walkers should be prepared to deal with any possible hazards concerning their physical abilities, clothing and equipment. We try to highlight some of these, but most walks involve some road crossings, overhead branches, rough terrain and some inclines. Please dress appropriately for weather. Advisable to bring water. Walkers do so voluntarily and entirely at their own risk; concerning their health, safety and belongings. The leaders and organiser are volunteers providing only guidance/advice and enabling the activity to take place. They are in no way responsible for walkers, who must satisfy themselves that they are fit enough for the activity, seek medical advice if necessary and notify the leader of any medical issues which might affect themselves or the group.
